Doing it Right
This project aims to provide immigrant youth-at-risk with on-going support and guidance during difficult periods in their lives - be it at home, at school and /or in their social circles. Highly qualified university students with strength of character and problem solving skills are selected and trained to work with these youth one-on-one each week.Together they explore issues such as family, violence, smoking, and substance abuse. Every month, 12 of these pairs meet as a group and participate in theme based workshops facilitated by experts in the field. As an integral part of the learning process, they are responsible as a group to implement a community service project.
